Bushwhack'd
Sep. 24th, 2010 04:06 pmCURRENT FAVORITES:
Miike Snow, "Sans Soleil" (I'm really having a hard time getting into this band -- they have that cutesy twee sound that's really popular in indie circles right now but kinda annoys me -- but I'm really enjoying this song)
Swans, "Blind"
Swans, "Love Will Save You"
This has been a really rough week, which explains why I haven't posted here in almost a week, the longest time I've gone in a while. This is mostly because of my geology lab on Tuesday, in which we had to get to someplace that wasn't all that easy to get to, but because the bridge that would've taken us there was torn down, we had to go bushwhacking through the woods just to get to our study location. Which wouldn't have been so bad, if a) the place wasn't really fucking steep and with absolutely no halfway decent footholds or places to hold on to, b) taking an extremely longer time than the rest of the class because I was deathly afraid I'd fall over and die somewhere, and c) it weren't for the insects, and d) had we gone down the road a little ways, we would've found a path that would've taken us down there much easier and faster. So yeah, FUN TIMES Y'ALL. XPPP And ES seminar lab on Thursday, in which we drove to the area that we're studying, which is an hour south of here; however, because lab is only three hours long, and because of road construction and a really bad wrong turn someplace, that meant lab consisted of nothing more than two and a half hours in a poorly-ventilated van. And working late to finish a geology lab report on Thursday. And going to bed late and not getting enough sleep. So between all that, it really hasn't been a good week.
Despite that, there were good points: trying out meditation (with the same yoga instructor I had last January), going to a lecture with David Goodman (Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman's brother) about bias and lying in the mainstream corporate media in which he spent a great deal of time talking about a court case involving a group of Connecticut librarians unwilling to give patron information to the FBI under the Patriot Act, really enjoying tai chi and my radio show, only kinda enjoying yoga (it's the class for those who are more experienced with it, but it's the only class that a) I don't have to pay for, and b) fits my schedule), going to the first meeting of the creative writing club (hopefully that should help with me writing again), buying carrots and raspberries from the organic garden stand, having a great time at the QSH last night (someone brought in their pet rabbit.....:3), and surprisingly enjoying my classes (for the most part XD).
onetruesikorsky, Bee finally came in the mail today, and he looks spectacular. Thank you so much!! :D
Even though all I really want to do for the next two days is watch episodes of The Guild and sleep in, I have to go to an event at this symposium this weekend for my ES seminar (probably the keynote address tonight, just to get it over with), go to some other club meetings, do lots of readings for my GIS and ES seminars (for Monday and Tuesday, respectively), start doing research for my ES seminar for next Thursday, and writing another lab report for geology due on Tuesday. Oh yeah, and this, can't forget about that. ^_^; Basically, if there's any way to catch a break here at college, you have to make time for it and put everything else on the back burner for a little bit, lest you really want to fire on all cylinders for fourteen weeks straight. >_>;
I also want to try to do another linkdump rather soon. In the meantime, though, I'll leave you with more memes:

We all have things about our friends that make us slightly envious. Not in a bad way, but in a "Wow! I wish I had that person's hair, eyes, money, relationship, inner beauty, whatever."
So tell me what about me makes you envy me, then post this in your LJ and see what makes me envious of you!

Ask me anything about my fandoms. Why I adore something, why I hate something; what would I like to see, what I wouldn't. Or anything in between. Ask away and I'll do my best to answer.
It could be as broad as a pan-fandom subject, or as specific as a single character at a certain time. Anything goes.
