CURRENT FAVORITES:
Grinderman, "Palaces of Montezuma"  (this is kinda the most generic song on their latest album, but it's also the one I've taken to the most -- oops D:)
Bell X1, "The Great Defector"  (so it sounds too much like Talking Heads -- so what?  It's still good!  XD)
Garry Schyman & Palbasha Siddique, "Praan"
How To Dress Well, "Ready For the World"
Royksopp, "The Drug"
Philip Selway, "By Some Miracle"
Crystal Castles, "Vanished"
Dinosaur Feathers, "Vendela Vida"
Broken Social Scene, "World Sick"

Well, the first week of college is over, and I. Am. TIRED.  A lot happened this week, both awesome and not-so-awesome things, so I'll try to be as brief as possible (and I'm probably forgetting some things too):

I tried not to be so tl;dr about it -- and once again, I don't think I succeeded. XD )

So yeah, that was this week -- can you tell I'm exhausted?  XD  Anyway, I have a job interview, yoga, t'ai chi, and club meetings to look forward to next week; as much as I'm going to get busy fairly soon, I don't want to lose momentum.

I'm taking three classes again this semester: ENVS 401 (the ES senior seminar), GEOG 420 (the GIS seminar), and GEOL 251 (Geomorphology).  The ES seminar is my major's capstone project, and our class follows the service learning model, in which we apply what we learn in class and elsewhere to real-world problems.  Our class is studying how to deal with arsenic pollution in well water in certain parts of rural Vermont; while I wasn't all that hyped up about having to do service learning at first, the topic actually seems quite fascinating, and I can't wait to get to work on it.  The GIS seminar is surprisingly pretty chill; it follows a "read these things and we'll talk about them for three hours once a week" model, and the readings, while very dense, aren't all that bad.  There is a community-based final project to that class as well: making recommendations for the town of Middlebury's 30-year Master Plan.  Which I know diddly squat about, but OK, I can live with that.  ^_^;  (There is a midterm project where we have to interview someone who's lived in the town for at least 30 years, which is both really cool and really frightening, since I have zero interview/people skills.)  And geomorphology is, well, geomorphology.  Complete with lab reports due every Tuesday, which is going to suck.  So between these three classes, I have more than enough work to deal with.  It seems doable; my schedule still has to shake out, but I don't have class on Wednesdays and Fridays, so that should help.  (Thursdays are my worst days, with something going on from 9:30 straight to 4:15 -- at least on Tuesdays I get a decent lunch break.)

I have a lot of work for tomorrow -- finishing my GIS readings, starting my ES readings, and starting my geology lab report (I really need to learn how to skim readings rather than try to read them in full D8).  So, not much time to really be able to relax.  But it's 3:30 in the morning, and I should probably be getting some sleep soon.  How's everyone doing?

Anyway, I leave you with this very strange video:
