Aug. 5th, 2010 12:28 amI know I've been posting a lot lately, but I need to get a couple of things off my chest:
Good news: California's Proposition 8 has been ruled unconstitutional! I'm very, very happy that gay marriage is legal in California again! :D Yes, the fight isn't over, but this is still something very much worth celebrating. \o/
Sadly, y'all are gonna have to celebrate without me, since I've been feeling extremely tired and not completely there as of late, as well as the.....
Bad news: So tomorrow morning (technically today), I'm supposed to go to the DMV to take the first half of the testing required to get my license. We pretty much have all the paperwork we need -- except for a certain form. Which we're supposed to have completed when we go in. Which we don't already have. Which we didn't know we were supposed to do until tonight. Which is apparently supposed to be mailed to us (even though it doesn't explicitly say that on the DMV website). Which -- if this were 100% true -- means I'd have to wait who knows how long for the thing to come in and to actually get the ball rolling. And I have a month left before I go to college, and my parents have to take some time off in order to help me with this, and neither of them have all that much time they can take off because they've already taken off a lot. And yes, this is the only chance this summer in which I can get it.
Which means that unless the stars align somehow, or we can actually focus on doing this for once, I will be royally screwed, and will have to wait another fucking year to get the damned thing.
I mean, if I remember correctly, when I was applying for my learner's permit I'm pretty sure the same thing came up: we were supposed to have a filed form, we didn't, so they gave us one to fill out right then and there. Or there was some incident where we thought we had to have the form mailed to us, but we didn't. I can't remember all that well. But I'm hoping the same thing happens here. Because if it doesn't, I will be PISSED OFF. We've kept on putting it off for so long (for reasons that are mostly out of my control), and now that I have this chance, I don't want to blow it because we Didn't Do The Research™.
And if I do manage to take the test tomorrow -- it's the written part, which I'm afraid I'll screw up. I mean, yeah, I know it's easy, but I've been taking the practice tests online and I haven't been doing as well as I thought I would. So yeah, gotta study for that as well.
Yeah, yeah, I know, this isn't all that big of a deal, it's First World Problems, etc. But when you've been trying to get this important thing for four summers in a row, and various circumstances have prevented you from doing so, and when you're this close to getting it you realize that no, you're not as prepared as you think you are, well........you can understand why I'm reacting the way I am. D:
In case anyone's curious, I will update my Twitter and/or make an edit to this entry within the next 12-24 hours to let you know how it turned out. Either that, or I'll mention it in my next RL update, which might not be for a couple of days. Anyway, time to study. And sleep. WISH ME LUCK Y'ALL
