quadruplify: Stuart Staples (lead singer of Tindersticks) surrounded by pigeons (kinnosuke)
1. Hello to everyone from the Durarara friending meme!  I have an intro post here, and my contact information is in the first part of this post.  Though if you're too lazy to click on that second link, all you need to know is that I'm mecteol on AIM, and as I have somehow forgotten to tell everyone, I also have a MyAnimeList, which you can find here.

2. I finally got around to sending that letter to my parents.  Now let's see how things work out.

3. Last Sunday, Climatology Nerd came over to my house briefly to visit, before he leaves for Montana this weekend.  It was actually very spur-of-the-moment: he contacted me through Facebook on Saturday saying he wanted to meet with me the next day, and I told him anytime after 1 PM, which in hindsight was kinda stupid because I didn't specify an exact time, which meant a.) he could've come at a very inconvenient time, and b.) I was pretty much waiting around for him to call letting me know he was coming all day.

He finally did call around 4 PM; he had stayed at a friend's place in Lyme the night before, and was going to be headed back home to Westchester County, and since where I live is along the way he wanted to stop by.  He thought about going out to dinner with me, but since my parents already had plans to go to the Chinese restaurant that night (the one where I went for my birthday last year), I asked if they could invite him with us, and they said yes.  So when he came around 6, we all got into our car and drove there.

The food there was absolutely delicious, as usual (OMG THE SCALLOPS they were amazing......and of course EDAMAME!!!!  XD), and my folks finally got to know him a little bit.  Then after we came back home, he hung out in my room for a little bit, and then took him outside to have him look at my dad's then-untilled backyard garden, which turned into an hour-long conversation between him and my dad about gardening (since Climatology Nerd is also an avid gardener, if I hadn't mentioned it already), with me sort of tagging along even though I didn't know what the hell they were talking about half the time because I really had nothing better to do.  :PPP  He left soon after, and for something that started out a little bit awkward, my parents really liked him!  Good times were had by all, and it was great to see him after he graduated.  :D

I hope he stays in touch this summer; he has a cooking job in Montana until September, which means he won't be as immediately available as he was before, but he promised to call every once in a while, so we'll see how this works out.  Still, it was good to see him again before it would be practically impossible to do so.  And it's proof that yes, I do indeed have a social life, however moribund it might be.  8DDDDDDDDDDDDD

4. I got my spring semester grades this week.  And while I won't go into details, I will say that they were much better than fall semester's grades.  WAY better.  As in "I finally got some A's this year!" better.  Needless to say, I'm very pleased with myself.  ^_^;

5. Something not so awesome, but at least it ended happily: my mom approached me sometime this week about some charges on my cell phone bill that were pretty outrageous.  Turns out I had gotten some spam texts one day a little over a month ago, and got subscribed to some things I didn't want to get subscribed to.  Which made me panic like hell, but my mom took care of it very easily, and now those charges have been dropped and I don't have to worry about it!  Success!  XD

6. I recently came across the soundtrack to SimCity 3000, and I can't believe I forgot all about how awesome that game was, and how equally awesome the soundtrack is!  I remember playing it a lot and generally being obsessed with it a few years ago -- it definitely made me feeling nostalgic, that's for sure.  I also think that it was partly this soundtrack that warmed me up to post-rock and electronica and things like that (there are also lots of jazz tracks, but I never liked those as much).  Here are some examples: [1]  [2]  [3]  [4]  [5]

If anyone is interested in the whole soundtrack, let me know and I'll upload it.  ;-)

7. It's Transfriday!  (And here as well.)  :D

8. ......I guess I've had a lot more awesome things going on this week that I thought.  Even if they're only small things.  O_o;  Not that I'm complaining, of course.  XD
