How about some short films on YouTube?

I really like short films; I can't say I'm much of an expert, since I haven't seen too many, but these two are among my favorites (it was hard to pick even one).  "New Boy" was featured on the front page of YouTube not too long ago, and I was completely drawn in by the story and characters.  The three others they featured were really good too, and I highly recommend them ("Frankie" was both poignant and hilarious, "Sikuma" was atmospheric and haunting and lovely, and "Dennis" was probably the weakest -- a realistic and well-made story, but also quite awkward, and not always in the good way).  I picked "New Boy," though, because it was the most upbeat.

I discovered "More" back in 11th grade, when I was staying after school one day and I caught my 9th grade English teacher playing it in his classroom -- it was either for another student or by himself, I can't remember.  I was really affected by it, and each time I watch it I experience it differently, I get some new meaning out of it, and it still seems fresh and engaging.  It seems like a simple story and message, but it really isn't, and that's why it's my favorite short film.  Oh yeah, and it was how I discovered New Order too.  XD

There are others I'd recommend; I featured "The Cat Piano" here back in October, and I just watched "Tarboy" not too long ago, which I think you might get a kick out of.  ;-)

I really want to rant about the first week of the new semester (believe me, there's a lot to rant about, as well as some good stuff too), but it's late, I'm wiped, and all I want to do is more memes.

Yes, it's an "intellectual" book, but it honestly was the closest one at hand.  :3  I've been reading it for American Foreign Policy class, and while it's as dry as I expected it to be, there are parts that I really, really like -- as in, the "OMG this man totally gets it" kind of like.  ^_^;
