The 30-Day Meme

Day 01 | Your favourite song
Day 02 | Your favourite movie

Day 03 | Your favourite television programme

This is really hard to say, because I rarely watch TV anymore, especially since most of it nowadays is extremely boring or just plain bad.  I could put stuff I liked to watch as a kid, mostly '90s-era Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, the Discovery Channel when it actually had educational shows on, some PBS (mostly Arthur and Wishbone, etc.), Beakman's World, and if we're really pushing it, early-'90s Disney Channel.  The thing is, I hardly remember much of what I used to like other than the names of the shows, and as much as I enjoyed them, I only really saw them as pure entertainment and was never really affected by them all that much (at least not consciously).  I've seen a lot of people both on LJ and IRL talk about shows they used to watch and Disney movies they really liked when they were little, whereas I.....can't get all that worked up over them.  I might revisit some of them if I'm on a nostalgia trip, but.....eh.  >_>

I don't watch shows religiously; basically, if something's on that's interesting, I might watch it for a little bit.  However, there used to be two shows in which I pretty much dropped everything I did when a new episode came on each week:

The 4400:

...and 30 Days (appropriately enough XD -- I couldn't find a good video on YouTube, so I'm linking to the Wikipedia article instead)

Of course, with shows like these that were good enough that even I wanted to watch them, they had to get canceled.  D:  (Though really, I'm not surprised; The 4400 was beginning to veer off into territory that, uh, I wasn't quite sure it was going to pull off successfully [though the same could be said for any sci-fi/fantasy show like that], whereas 30 Days ran during the summer, late on a weekday night, on a somewhat popular cable channel, so it wouldn't get the ratings it needed to sustain it.)  And now that Monk is over, there's really nothing else for me to watch, save whatever the rest of my family is watching and whatever I come across late at night.

Upcoming days... )

****************************************************************************
So it turns out I'll most likely be working at my mom's workplace for three days next week, doing filing and other office errands.  I admit my first reaction was a little bit of resentment -- I won't have a lot of time or energy to read or watch what I want next semester, and having to work during vacation cuts into the time in which I can do all those things as much as possible.  Plus, vacations are meant for being lazy, and there's nothing I love doing more than absolutely nothing at all.  ;-)  But on the other hand -- I need the money.  And every time I plan on actually doing something other than bumming around in front of the laptop all day, it never happens.  At least with this job I'll make myself useful, and I actually will be doing something.  It pays $10/hour, which is more than any job I could hope to get on campus, and although what I'd make won't be much, at least it'll be something -- it's a great feeling to be working for your money and not having to beg one's parents for some (which I had to do for the first time recently -- they don't mind at all, of course, but it's still embarrassing).

Booklists for next semester are out.  I don't want to know how much I'll have to pay.  D8

Still sick, still very tired and drained, still not wanting to do anything.  The last radio show went well (and my aunt finally got around to listening to it!), the Japanese review session was all right (even though I was in and out the whole time), and I skipped yoga because more often than not, "exercising through illness" only makes matters worse.  :P  Oh well, it's not like I was doing it for PE credit anyway.

How about another meme?

So it turns out I am a robot after all.... )
