THE TIME CAPSULE MEME

The first meme closes this Saturday, while the second closes at the end of the month.

I finally have some rather strange and funny quotes from college! Both of these were from today's IEP class:

Professor: "I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving! I see you're all plumper!"
Female student in the back: *mumbles* "Thanks." >_>;

Professor: "International treaty negotiations are a lot like the mating of elephants: it happens far above the grassroots, it kicks up a lot of dust, and you don't get to see what comes of it until 22 months later." (This is my current Facebook status, for obvious reasons. 8DDDDDDDD)

.....Oh well, it's better than my stats professor making horrendous puns and assuming all the non-American students in our class are weird and dumb. :/

The rough draft for the Japanese skit is done, so once we get the revisions back we'll start practicing for Friday. As for Enviro Econ, well....you know how when you finish something, you think you've done everything right, only you look back over it two days before it's due and it turns out you screwed up on pretty much everything? Yeah, it was like that tonight. Fortunately I think our mistakes should be easy to fix, though we have one problem where we're simply not getting the results we should be getting, and it's hella frustrating. (Of course, it wouldn't be so bad if the questions weren't so vague, and if the prof actually helped us during office hours instead of being so afraid to spill the answer that he couldn't say anything at all, and if we didn't get conflicting numbers for the stuff we had to research. Then again, that would be asking too much of an economist like him, now would it? >B[ )

Still haven't started on the stats group project (which is due next Monday -- looks like someone we all know is gonna have to take charge on that :P), or research on the IEP project, but then again today was an "adjustment" day. This is my last week of classes (huzzah!!) and last two weeks of the semester, though -- every day is going to be an "adjustment" day. :D

I really don't like this list at all. I get that this was compiled based on their influence rather than whether or not they actually have good ideas, but if you skim though it you'll see why it pisses me off, and if y'all are as intelligent as I think you are you'll be pissed off too. (I like that Bill McKibben is on the list, though he ought to be much higher than #78.) DX

This article on "slush piles" and what they mean about America should make you feel better, even if it's still rather depressing. And now my dreams of getting a novel published have been completely shot, even if I'm not guilty of those kinds of generic, clichéd ideas. -_-

I'm not sure how I feel about living in the penis of America. [Context]

I found a Godzilla/Cthulhu fanmix on LJ tonight. I'd link to it, but the entry is locked. :(

Still sick, though I'm slowly starting to feel better (figures, really). As for the Christmas cards, if all goes according to plan I shall buy them sometime this week, and send them out by early next week. ;-)
