Oct. 27th, 2009 07:56 pmI got back my third problem set for Environmental Econ yesterday, and .... I bombed that one too. -_- I can't seem to do anything right in that particular class -- I mean, I sort of get what we're learning and what's going on (oh all right, not everything), but when I get these things back I don't understand what the hell I did wrong at all. I wouldn't be worrying about it too much if a.) it wasn't worth 7.5% of my grade, and b.) I didn't have an exam tomorrow night. O_O; Basically, if I screw this up, the highest final grade I have a chance of getting for the class is in the C range. Which isn't bad, but isn't where I want it to be, and getting something lower than a C is much more likely. What's worse, I have ZERO motivation to actually study. Partly because of the sucktastic grades, but mostly because it's so intellectually unstimulating and technical that worrying about grades isn't enough to push me into studying harder. (I would also say it's boring, but that really shouldn't be a factor for why I dislike a class, though having an uncharismatic professor certainly doesn't help.) And even if I did, I have no time to actually study, not when I have Japanese and stats homework (which takes longer than you'd expect), and having to read an entire book for IEP by the end of this week that I haven't started yet (but it's only about 200 pages, and the book is really small and looks interesting anyway, so I'm not too worried). :P I know I shouldn't be wasting my time writing this when I could be STUDYING, but I need to vent somehow. Oh well, at least I can relax after the exam is over; I've got that to look forward to.
Better news: The job interview today went really well! Basically they told me I didn't really need to be familiar with the programs they mentioned in their job listing, because they were easy to use and there were tutorial binders available in case I needed them. I seemed to click really well with the interviewer, who told me that if I got the job, I would help redesign the website for the Vermont Higher Education Council, which would be mainly visited by prospective students, their families, and the presidents of colleges in Vermont. O_o I'm definitely up for it, and I told them so. So things look really optimistic on this front; I should find out whether or not I got it within the next few days.
I also bought tickets to see Dan Deacon on November 7, and Ra Ra Riot on November 14, both of whom are playing on campus. Should be fun! (I wish I could go to more concerts at Higher Ground in Burlington -- I mean, just look at who they're bringing and who they've brought before -- but tickets are more expensive there, and there's no way I can get a ride there. Alas, at least for this year I have to make do with what's available here.)
Oh, and a warm welcome to
infected_wound ! I have an intro post here; some things have changed since this past summer, but a lot of it is still valid. ;-)
I should be posting Quidditch and symposium spam (and yes, it will be SPAM, you have been warned) sometime tonight or tomorrow, considering I need to get that done soon before I forget to do it, and/or I forget everything that happened in the first place. Please be patient! ^_^;
