Jun. 12th, 2009 04:47 pmNote to self: Never have too many chocolates, M&Ms, and iced tea a couple hours before going to bed. Otherwise your blood sugar will go too high, you'll get the shakes, you're going to get extremely lightheaded, and you won't be able to sleep at all.
....Yes, this is what happened to me last night, and yes, I'm still reeling a bit but I'm fine now. D8 I also need to go to bed earlier, eat more during the day (at least more than a quick breakfast, and having the only full meal be dinner), and have healthier snacks before going to bed (grapes, blueberries, strawberries, etc. still have sugar, but they're not as concentrated and they also don't have caffeine). My sleep and eating habits are one reason why I've fallen into a rut since I got home -- if I want to get out of it, I need to start slow, and that's a good place to start. :P
Anyway, here's my absolute favorite song by one of my all-time favorite bands:
The music on their last two albums, The Great Destroyer and Drums and Guns (this song is off the former), are vastly different from all the other albums that came before, which had that "slowcore" sound for which they were known -- songs with slow tempos, simple but gorgeous melodies, minimalist lyrics, and an overall bleak mood/tone. Many fans didn't take to their new direction too well, but I for one don't blame them for wanting to branch out, and the results have been very successful. This song also has some of my favorite lyrics from the past decade(and has also inspired a good number of fanfic ideas!), and I would suggest to anyone who's interested in listening to this band to start with the two albums I mentioned, which are their most accessible.
It's my parents' anniversary tomorrow, and my mom really wants us to go to this place. It looks interesting, but then again New England has a bajillion of such historic homes, and I've been to my fair share -- when you've seen one, you've seen them all, basically. So I don't know what I'll be doing tomorrow. I also guess (but I'm not sure) that we'll be visiting my paternal grandmother (the sane one) tonight (again) because her birthday was yesterday. And I haven't driven all week, particularly because it's been raining all week and I know I'm not ready to drive in the rain just yet. I'm definitely getting more comfortable with it, though, and I really want to get this over and done with this summer. :P
