Jul. 18th, 2010 04:26 amNot much really going on in my life at the moment, except possibly for the fact that, after worrying about it for so long, it seems like there's finally some momentum going on finally getting my driver's license by the end of this summer. I just hope that my parents, who have to help me with this sort of thing, won't let me down again.
And there's the distinct possibility that I might be seeing
two_grey_rooms in person soon? Ze's going to be in New Haven for the next three weeks because of this, and it'll probably be a good idea. Nevermind that I've never met anyone I've met on LJ in RL before. Very exciting, and yet very nerve-wracking! ^_^;
And I've finally, finally, FINALLY gotten back into Legend of the Galactic Heroes. I tried to start watching it back in November 2007, and I got through 38 episodes (out of 110, not counting the movies and gaiden), but when my hard drive crashed in June 2008 I lost all the episodes I had downloaded, and it took me a while to get them back, and I never got a chance to keep going. And since it's been two years (!) since seeing an episode, I've decided to start over. Which is incredibly frustrating, but there's a lot I've forgotten, and so I need the refresher. I finished watching episode 7 tonight, and I plan on watching more tomorrow.
...Of course, it helps that I've been spurred by recent news of the LoGH stage play coming out next January (which might be a musical after all), this absolutely gorgeous piece of Reinhard/Kircheis fanart, and this equally amazing Reinhard/Kircheis fic (spoilers, but for the first season only, and anyone who watches it will probably see it coming from a mile away anyway). Not to mention finding a set of icons I hadn't noticed before (or maybe I did, but I can't remember). IT'S ALMOST AS IF THE UNIVERSE IS TRYING TO TELL ME SOMETHING. XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
(And I'm just going to say right now, to the ol' f-list: if you're an anime fan [or you're curious about anime and would be interested in something criminally underrated], and you're not
childings,
infected_wound, or
mirai_noah [or anyone else who's seen the show that I've forgotten about], I strongly recommend watching LoGH. I admit it's a tough series to get into, but if you stick with it for long enough you will definitely become hooked, and it will be a rewarding experience, trust me. ~_^)
Finally, you know that "I Write Like..." meme that's been going around for a while? Well, not only is it biased toward white (male) authors, but it was also meant to lure unsuspecting writers into a vanity publishing scam. Now, I know no one on my f-list (or anyone I've seen on LJ who's done it, for that matter) took that meme seriously at all, but there's certainly no harm in being reminded of these things, no?
....All right, that's it for tonight. I know I can stay up longer, but my dad gets up every day at 5 AM, and if I don't at least pretend to be asleep by then, I won't have to suffer from the embarrassment. XD
