(no subject)

The reason why I've only been posting memes lately and not doing any RL updates (well, more so than usual) is because things really haven't been all that interesting lately.  The job I worked for 3.5 days this week is extremely boring, but at least a.) I'm getting an income, and b.) it's allowed me to contemplate what I want in the future, so it's not all bad.  I'd mention my haircut and dermatology appointment today, but I don't think the world needs to hear about that, plus it shows how far I'm reaching for "interesting" material here.  XD  People around here are already setting off fireworks, which are both extremely loud and extremely boring.  Feeling tired and low for the past week or so doesn't help at all, though going to the Chinese restaurant tonight helped (even if the waitress spilled water on me D8).

I'm also pretty jealous of those of you on the f-list who went to BotCon this past weekend -- it seems you all had a really great time!  Next year's is going to be in Pasadena, CA (why do they never hold stuff like that in the northeast?  >_<;), and around my birthday too.  I could try to go to that one, but I'd have to save up a lot of money in order to go (money that I highly doubt I'll have a year from now), and it would probably muck up my immediate post-graduation plans (unless I get a summer job in the Pasadena area).  Not to mention I'm still rather uncomfortable at the idea of going to cons, so a part of me kinda doesn't want to go, and there's the whole telling-your-parents-where-you're-going thing, which I don't want to have to think about at all.  Ugh, by the time I'll have enough money and independence to go, I probably won't be into TF anymore.  :(  I'm sure I could work something out, if I had the motivation, that is.

I bought some new books on Thursday: Sharp Teeth by Toby Barlow (a.k.a. the first werewolf novel I've ever purchased *SHOT*), Logicomix by Doxiadis, Papadimitriou, Papadatos, and di Donna, and Asterious Polyp by David Mazzucchelli (which K. had recommended to me a while ago, with rave reviews), the last two of which are graphic novels.  I can't wait to get into them; they all sound really interesting!  And I've finally started reading White Like Me; I'm close to halfway done with it already, and there's already so many things I want to quote from that, because it is just that awesome!  Hopefully I'll try to post a proper review of it when I'm done.  And do that second linkdump I've been meaning to do for a while now.  ^_^;
