Keeping it short, maybe
May. 18th, 2009 04:38 pmBeen home since last Saturday night, and I've only had Internet access since yesterday afternoon -- having wireless rocks! Now I don't have to go upstairs to use the computer, and I can stay online late like I do at college. Though I will try to limit my time, because wasting so much time can't be healthy, even if it is the kind of thing I really like doing. But the novelty hasn't worn off yet, and I know I won't have this luxury when I get my own place, so I'm enjoying it the best I can. XD
Being home is awesome as always, but I really need to start driving again and get a job. I want to look for something environmentally-related -- hell, even if it's an unpaid internship, it'll get me outside and doing stuff. My dad has suggested some telemarketing job in town. Yes, it looks like it pays well and should be easy, but it's the kind of thing that I feel I'd be selling my soul to. On the one hand, I need the money and experience and just "getting out there," but on the other hand, the thought of being a shill and having to work with bad people (I've heard enough horror stories from family and friends, believe me) scares the everloving shit out of me. Oh well, I have no clue what I want to do two years from now when I get out of college, so looking for boring ol' part- or full-time summer jobs might be my best bet. (If worse comes to worst, I could work at Barnes & Noble; it seems like the kind of place I'd like to work at, I guess.)
Other than my folks having to get a very bare-bones digital cable service (because Comcast pulled Thirteen, the PBS station from NYC, off of basic cable and everyone in my family, myself included, loves watching that channel), not much else has changed. My sister has a month left of her first year in middle school, and I finally have the time to read and watch all the stuff on my ever-growing list of stuff to read and watch. I won't be posting as much between now and early September when I go back, since I doubt there'll be anything all that eventful, but I'll try to stay in touch.
