I sure love my tags, don't I? ;-)
Mar. 27th, 2009 04:36 pmSo I let another break pass by. A whole week spent hardly doing anything. Oops. :( I do have work for next week, but it's either nothing I can't do on Sunday when I get back, or it won't be a huge deal -- like the book I'm supposed to have read for Monday for a Wednesday presentation, which I haven't started yet. Another oops. Then again, most students hardly do schoolwork over spring break; as much as I know better, at least I'm comforted by the fact that I won't be alone on this. I did finally finish Mononoke, which was a pretty awesome series if I could sum it up in three words, even though I must be very, very late to the party.
Found something, um, interesting today. Yeah. "Interesting" might be the best word for it -- not anywhere near "fascinating," certainly far from "boring" either, yet enough of a subtle euphemism for "THIS. IS. SO. WROOOOOOOOONG. DX". (WARNING: NSFW)
And now for this week's song:
Even though Laughing Stock is my favorite Talk Talk album, this song, off of the one that came before it, Spirit of Eden, is my favorite song of theirs. This somehow wormed its way into my head the first time I heard it not too long ago, and it still gives me the chills every time I hear it. The bassline, the keyboards, the choir, Mark Hollis' voice -- it all congeals into something wonderful, something I'd make a fool of myself trying to describe even more than I already have. I highly recommend both albums, and unless their prices are all wrong, they're cheaper than your average album on iTunes ($6 for Laughing Stock, $7 for Spirit of Eden), if you're interested.
And while we're still here:
I normally don't get myself excited from movie trailers, but as you can see, this is an exception. Even for a jaded, tried soul like me, this is very fascinating. I never read the book (or if I did, I don't remember reading it), I would still totally see this.
