Have not been having a good past couple of weeks here.  Always around late February/early March I start getting a bad case of burnout, and whatever motivation and work ethic I had in September pretty much goes down the drain.  I cannot wait until spring break in two weeks, which will definitely help, if only for two or three days.  I've been blowing off work the past couple of weekends, which is never a good idea but I was getting away with it.  I can't this time around: I have an assignment for Monday that requires going to certain websites and answering questions that will probably be time-consuming, going by the strong recommendation to work with a partner on this (then again, it's geology, and since I've been getting awesomely good grades so far, if I somehow screw this up even by a bit, it won't be too much of a problem).  I also have a presentation on Evangelion to give on Tuesday...yes, for one of my classes we're in groups presenting on a TV anime series, and our group is doing one of my all-time favorites.  This probably won't take as much "work" as it seems to me right now, but there's definitely some stress here, if only because I fail at oral presentations.  (It also means I've been rewatching the series, something I've been meaning to do for a while now -- maybe sometime after Wednesday I'll post some thoughts I've had while seeing it again.)  And on Wednesday I have a 5-pp. essay due, and I haven't finished any but one of the readings we've had so far.  Now, these readings are 200-300 pp. books, and it's nigh impossible to actually finish these dry, academic texts when you have so much other work to do -- even professors themselves don't expect you to have the whole things read.  But having to reference these means drudging through them, which is extremely time-consuming.  And actually writing the essay also takes longer than I hope for.

It also happens to be one of those weekends where a lot of interesting things are going on.  Milk and The Savages are screening here, and there's also a play I want to see tonight.  Also, on Sunday we'll be screening Revolutionary Road because apparently one of its scriptwriters is a graduate of our college.  These probably won't take too much of my time, especially since the play and Milk are tonight and I never work on Friday nights, but between all that, finishing up Evangelion, and meetings to prepare for the presentation, I'll hardly have time to do anything I need to do and get a good night's sleep in the process.  And hoo boy, I don't want to get sick now.  People are getting sick left and right, but other than the occasional nasty cough I've been lucky.  Let's hope it stays that way.  *knocks on wood*

Cut for more personal stuff )
In better news, two more people called in to my radio show!  One of them was a friend from high school (different guy), and no requests, but still awesome, right?

And it looks like I'll have to decide between Milk and the play, having spent so long writing this.  LOL  :D

This weekend is going to be the weekend from hell, so here's two videos for the price of one.

The latest from Röyksopp. Yet another in my long list of bands I totally need to listen to more. Also, is it just me or do they have the best videos? The videos for "Remind Me" and "What Else Is There?" are mind-blowingly amazing, but I don't think they can compare to this. I love videos that literally incorporate the song lyrics and play off them.

A parody of the Watchmen trailer that nails it spot-on.  Speaking of Watchmen: I won't see it until I've actually read the book (which I somehow STILL HAVEN'T DONE YET....grahhh), and I'll wait until the DVD comes out if the rumors of the 4-hour director's cut come true.  I've heard a lot of mixed reactions about it, and it didn't do too well at the box office last weekend even though it was #1 and will probably bomb this weekend, which does say a thing or two about it.
